I hope my kids get this teacher. I may get flamed for it, but sending a kid to detention for being correct is too much. Although this happened awhile ago, I'm constantly amazed by the lack of learning my kids' teachers have. I can't tell you how many times we've gotten notes with typos and bad grammar. I can live with typos, but if a principal cannot make a coherent sentence, then she should be fired.

Hahaha... That's reassuring.
Early in high school, I corrected my 9th grade honors English teacher on some sort of spelling mistake she made on the board. I was sent out and had to sit in the hallway for the rest of class.
Although that might have been because I was probably a little bit of a snot about it.
My daughter just started Pre K this year....I guess this is what I can look forward too!!!

I live in a relatively conservative area of a "red state." That being said, the public schools are going insane. Federal and state mandates have tied the hands of principals to the point that they cannot really govern their school. No Child Left Behind, like a lot of what the government does, has done more to hurt public education than hurt. This year Sybil and I thought about home schooling our kids. I'm not sure that is the answer either, though.
I'm all for homeschooling. I know a number of friends that homeschool their kids and they all seem to be years ahead of similarly-aged kids in public schools.
And with so many homeschool collective programs, there are still plenty of opportunities for music, field trips, and other social activities.
That being said, we probably won't end up homeschooling our own kids, just because it's not my wife's cup o' tea.
We struggled with it, but we decided to let the public screwels do the best they can. We, the parents, will have to supplement and modify the drivel in schools.
